M. Susan Farrelly Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2024.
Mary Susan Dolan Farrelly, Sue, or "Nana Sue", aged 81, passed away on August 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at home in Trumbull, CT. She was born on November 16, 1942, in Bridgeport to the late Samuel and Frances Dolan. Sue was a natural caregiver and lover of all living creatures. She happily shared her childhood stories of her beloved horse Duke and had a soft spot in her heart for the various animals her four children would return home with over the years. Sue had a forthright, beautiful, and loving nature that undoubtedly made everyone. feel like family when they walked into her house.

Sue graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, and furthered her education at St. Raphael School of Radiologic Technology, Bullard Havens Technical School and the University of Bridgeport where she earned a nursing degree. She was dedicated to raising her children and had immense pride in them as she watched them grow. While raising her children, Sue was a dedicated long-time volunteer at Trumbull EMS. We still don't know what she liked driving more- the ambulance or one of her many sports cars. Later, when her children's lives took them further afield, it was no surprise that she went to work at St. Vincent's Medical Center which benefited from Sue's compassion and expertise in the nursing profession. There she touched the lives of many of her patients and her co-workers on 7 North. She loved to tend to others and gave selflessly of herself.

Sue loved being "Nana" to her grandchildren and cherished spending time with them whenever possible. She was a frequent spectator at their various activities and an integral part of their lives. She took great pride in tending her beautiful gardens and creating a warm and welcoming family home. She was also an avid reader and BBC enthusiast!

In addition to her many friends, old and new, Sue is survived by her loving husband, Tom Farrelly; children, Tom Farrelly (Kathy), Maura Graml (Paul), Tim Farrelly (Michele), and Meegan Hatch (Willy); her beautiful grandchildren, Robert Farrelly, Matthew, Timothy, Patrick, Charlotte, and Evelyn Farrelly, and Sadie, Winnie, and Beatrix Hatch. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald T. Lynch.

A private memorial will be held on Cape Cod to celebrate Sue's life. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, generosity, sense of style and her spirited approach to life.

I was so sad to hear about Sue´s passing. I just found out. I have so many fond memories of working with her on 7N. She really took me under her wing when I was a new nurse. She took such good care of her patients. ~ Kellie (Farrell) Clomiro (I probably have some photos;I will look)

We always had the best of times at the Schuyler reunions or when getting together for dinners when we lived in Connecticut. Our deepest condolences to Tom and to the entire Farrelly family.

Mrs Farrelly, insisted we call her Sue when we reached adulthood but I always reverted back to Mrs Farrelly as she had been referred when I was four. She treated me and all my friends as if her own. She was very special and will be missed. We love you Mrs Farrelly.
