MABEL BOULIGNY

EL CAMPO - Mabel Helen (Geistman) Bouligny, 100, died May 30, 2007. She was born Oct. 7, 1906, in Rosebud, to Louis Edward and Hattie Geistman.
Mabel graduated from Nazareth Academy in Victoria. Her marriage to John Edward Bouligny on Oct. 12, 1926, lasted 75 years, ending at "Pop" Bouligny's death on Nov. 23, 2001.
Mabel and John raised five children: John Edward (deceased), Donald (deceased), Eugene H. and wife, Ella, James A. and wife, Zoe and Mary Beth Tuttle and husband, Herb. Mabel enjoyed her time with her children and six grandchildren: Robert Greg Bouligny and wife, Stephanie, Carol Robuck, Matt Hrncir and wife, Larissa, Edgar F. Erwin and wife, Melissa, Joseph D. Erwin and Kevin G. Erwin. She had ten great-grandchildren: Cole Bouligny, Briana Bouligny, John Bouligny, James Bouligny, David Robuck, Nicholas Robuck, Hal Erwin, Elizabeth Zoe Erwin, Mary Katherine Erwin and, soon to be born, Luke Hrncir.
Mabel was a homemaker, active in the parent-teacher association and Catholic Daughters of America. Mabel was one of the original organizers of the Catholic Daughters Our Lady Queen of Peace Council No. 1374, in El Campo, in 1945, and served as the first Grand Regent. The annual Catholic Daughters conventions were an occasion not to be missed.
She was active in St. Philip The Apostle Church and persevered in weekly church attendance until the age of 96. Mabel was an avid canasta and 88 domino player, and has outlived most of her domino group.
She was a member of the El Campo Garden Club. She loved her flower garden, tending her roses and other varieties of flowers. Mabel was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Education was mandatory with her. It was her driving force that ensured that all of her children graduated from college. Mabel lived a full and happy life. She enjoyed her many trips to Zoe and Jim's lake house, she loved to laugh and seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of energy. She was known to some of her grandchildren as, "Lady", and that she certainly was. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Matt Hrncir, Edgar F. Erwin, Joseph D. Erwin, Kevin G. Erwin, David Robuck, and John Bouligny.
Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Meyer, Eugene Netardus, Donald Kainer, Robert Kainer, and James Kainer.
At the request of the Bouligny family, memorial gifts are asked to be made in Mabel's name to Hospice Support, Inc., P.O. Box 1417, El Campo, Texas, or to the St. Philips School Endowment Fund, 304 West Church Street, El Campo, Texas.

To the Bouligny Family,
My name is Lynette (Weisiger) Kilgore, my father was Bob Weisiger and my grandmother is Hilda Weisiger. I would like to express my sincere sympathy in the loss of your mother and grandmother Mabel. I cannot say I ever remember meeting Aunt Mabel but as I read the obituary I was saddened because she seemed like a wonderful person. I pray that God is with you and your families.
Sincerely,

Scarlet Swoboda
