GREENSBORO — Mrs. Mabel Graeber Ford departed this earth on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at the home of her son, Dr. Wayne G. Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 14, at Grace Lutheran Church. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

She was the youngest of eight children born to Augustus and Cora Graeber of Kannapolis, N.C.

She joined Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, N.C., at the age of twelve, and remained a Lutheran until her death.

Mabel Ford graduated from Livingston College with a degree in Education, and obtained a Master's Degree in Education from North Carolina A&T State University. She taught high school English and French in Alabama, Wilson, N.C., and Tarboro, N.C., until her retirement in 1987.

After her retirement she worked as a substitute teacher and part-time at a day care center in Durham, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phil. J. Ford, Sr.; three brothers, Lewis Graeber, Charlie Graeber and John Douglas Graeber; three sisters, Ora Wesley, Maggie Wilson and Cleo Graeber; and a nephew, Richard Wilson.

Her survivors include one brother, Marvin Graeber of Greensboro, N.C.; one daughter, Jacquelyn Lockamy (Thomas) of Durham, N.C.; two sons, Dr. Wayne Woods (Jacqueline) and Phil J. Ford, Jr. (Traci), of Raleigh, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Dorthea Graeber (best friend) and Elizabeth Graeber.

Surviving nephews include Dewey Wilson (Virginia) of Charlotte, N.C., Benjamin Wilson (Kathy) of Greensboro, N.C., Lt. Col. John Wesley (Elsie) of San Antonio, Texas, Charles Graeber (Alwilda) of Bessemer, Ala.

Surviving nieces include Sharon Graeber of Greensboro, N.C., Alta Graeber McKlein of Kannapolis, N.C., Tina Graeber of Atlanta, Ga., Barbara Baker (Isaiah) of Silver Spring, Md., and Jacqueline Wilson of Danville, Va.

Surviving grandchildren are Woodsson Woods (Michele) of Atlanta, Ga., Jamil Woods of Washington, D.C., Karlea Woods of Greenbelt, Md., Tinique Parker, Tyler Ford and Michele Ford of Raleigh, N.C., Charles Williams, Jason Lockamy and Terri Lockamy of Durham, N.C. She has one great-granddaughter, Sierra Woods of Atlanta, Ga.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church.
