Madeleine left us on May 5 after a brave battle with cancer. She will be mourned by her husband John, her sister Linda (Donald), sister-in-law Leslie (the late Marcel) and brother-in-law Stephen (Linda). She will also be missed by her niece Karen (Paul), nephew Alan (Asako), and as GAMI to her four great nieces, Emma, Molly, Maddy and Anna. Madeleine was blessed with a unique sense of humor and all benefited from her infectious laugh. She gave so much of herself to her family, friends and staff. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Madeleine trained as an occupational therapist. In 1969, she accepted a position at the Royal Victoria and after 40 years of continuous service, she retired as Manager of the Occupation and Therapeutic Recreation Services of the McGill University Health Centre. She loved the challenge of her positions and the invaluable opportunity to work with and develop rewarding relationships with her colleagues. Madeleine and John would like to thank all those friends and relatives who have been so supportive and made a difference in so many ways, especially in the past few months as her health declined. They also extend their heartfelt thanks to the spectacular team of the Palliative Care Unit for their expertise and devotion. Because of her passion for gardening, Madeleine has requested that you plant something in her memory in your own garden, or make a donation to the cancer charity of your choice. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Ch. de la Foret, Montreal, QC.(514) 279-6540
