Ms. Madison Elaine Mahoney, 18, of Hickory spoke her first words and took her first steps into Heaven, on Friday, May 23, 2014 at her residence. 2 Corinthians 5:1. Madison was born on August 21, 1995 in Catawba County to Kevin Shaw Mahoney and Betty Jean Keyes Mahoney. Even though Maddie never spoke a word, she was a blessing to and touched the lives of many people. She attended Conover School and was a member of Hickory Harvest Bible Chapel. Survivors include her parents, Kevin and Betty Mahoney of the home, brother, Michael Mahoney and wife Amy of Greensboro, sister, Mary Story and husband Andrew of Newton, and sister, Megan Mahoney of Raleigh. Also surviving are her grandparents, Dana and Loretta Keyes of Vale and Thomas and Susan Mahoney of Tallman, NY and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She was loved by her many nurses from Bayada that cared for her over the years, especially the two who cared for her the longest, Brenda Taylor and Donna Moretz. Both treated her as if she were their own daughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 5:30 P.M. at Hickory Harvest Chapel. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 4:00 until 5:30 P.M. at Hickory Harvest Chapel. Memorials may be sent to The Conover School, c/o PTO, 108 7th Street Pl SW, Conover, NC 28613, or to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
