On behalf of the Western Zone of the New York State Retired Teachers' Association (NYSRTA) sympathy and prayers are extended. In Magda's memory, a donation will be made by Western Zone to the Robert DeCormier Fund of NYSRTA, which assists retired educators in need. May this soul, as well as the soul of all faithful departed, rest in peace!

I didn't know Magda, but was so touched by what others said. She was a good friend.

Magda criticized me when I got too fat, warned me away from wasting my life in politics, and provided frank assessments of my romantic interests. How could I not love her?
She also rekindled in me the fires of intellectual curiosity and scholarly endeavor when I returned to school (starting with her course "Technology, Culture, and Social Change") nearly 20 years ago -- and they are burning still. For that I will always be grateful.

Magda,
I had you as a teacher for one semester and you left an indelible mark on me. You were one of my all time favorite teachers. Your intelligence and insight into the world was remarkable. Your personality and love of life really shined through and lit up a room. My only regret is that I never told you this while you were here. May you rest eternally in peace.

While I sometimes had difficulty with all of her futurist and political ideals, I had great admiration and respect for Mrs. McHale. She always had a smile for me when I returned to UB and always stopped to say hello and ask how I have been.
Thank you Magda for teaching me to open my sometimes too closed mind.
Rest in Peace.

Her inspiration while in Arch School is unforgetable, she helped me define why I wanted to be an architect...to improve!

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Magda
Thank you for 30 years of friendship, guidance, joy, inspiration, laughter, tears and comfort. The world is a better place for what you gave to it and there will be a void with you gone
