Mamie Elizabeth Putnam

Mamie Elizabeth Venable Putnam, 89, of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at the South Roanoke Nursing Home, in Roanoke, VA.

A funeral service for Mrs. Putnam will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Strasburg, VA on March 5, 1929, a daughter of the late Fulton Gardner and Elizabeth Brown Venable.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a long time member of the church choir.

Mrs. Putnam retired from Keister Advertising having worked 30 years and then worked as a secretary for Commercial Press.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Joyce Johns and Irene Griffith.

Survivors include her husband Harold Franklin Putnam of Strasburg, VA; her two daughters, Elizabeth Lynne Putnam of Middletown, VA and Joyce Diane Putnam Smith of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her siblings, James B. Venable and wife Judy of Middletown, VA, Sarah Ellen Houff of Purcellville, VA and Janet Lee Fish of Strasburg, VA.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Stickley, David Smith, Nick Racey, Bob Smith, John Horan, and Danny Putnam.
