Manuel H. "Mickey" Davis

Manuel H. "Mickey" Davis Gainesville, Tx - CPO USN (Retired) Manuel H. Davis was born on November 29, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee to Manuel H. Davis and Martha Louise (Smith) Davis. He passed into the arms of the Father August 21, 2015 after a long illness. He was 64 years old. He is survived by his wife Deborah Langford Davis of Gainesville, TX; sons, Michael Davis of Gulfport, Mississippi and Sean Davis and wife, Becky of Gainesville, TX; grandchildren, Chloe and Nehemiah of Gulfport, Mississippi and Makayla, Logan, and Emilie of Gainesville, TX; brother, Frank Taylor of Albany, Georgia and sisters, Charlene Godbee of Ravenel, South Carolina and Sandra Yeager of Wiggins, Mississippi. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jackie Davis and Robert Davis. Mickey joined the Navy in 1969 and retired as Chief Petty Officer in 1989. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He loved his grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. His family and friends span from east to west and his love left each of us with our own special memories of Mickey; but his greatest love was for his country. Throughout his twenty years of service, he never shied away from his responsibilities as a Navy Seabee and military member, which makes Manuel a true American hero. He received during his years of service the Navy Good Conduct Medal on four occasions, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Efficiency "E" Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Expert Riffle Ribbon and the Sharp-Shooter M-16A1 Riffle Ribbon. Mickey will be missed but lovingly remembered by all whom he touched. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Agape Hospice, 658 Bells Highway, Walterboro, SC 29488 and/or Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarrorproject.org or mailed to P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675). The family would like to thank the care staff of Agape Hospice, Dr. Thomas and his staff for all the care and support that was showed to our loved one. We would like to also thank Chaplain Chris Giles for his visits and spiritual support. Mickey was grateful for his South Carolina family and friends.
