Marc Armstrong Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Joseph Armstrong, 64, in the early morning hours of January 8, 2025. A resident of Pflugerville, Texas for over 20 years, he died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Although a native Californian, Marc spoke five languages and lived in many countries before making his forever home in Central Texas. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His early years were spent in the military, but for most of his life he made his living as a carpenter, building houses, doing remodels, and making custom cabinets. His passions included reading, researching, cooking, and self-defense. At his core he was a teacher, always wanting to impart his wisdom to those who would listen, and always striving for excellence. He had a hugely generous heart and spirit of benevolence, and was a fantastic conversationalist.

Marc is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Jamie Armstrong, who credits him for making her a true Texan; his children, Elad (Hani), Omri (Ofri), and Zoe; his grandchildren, Shay, Idan, and Amber; and his sister, Anne. His two German Shepherds, Duby and Koda, miss him terribly.

Marc was preceded in death by his father, Pennell, his mother, Tamara, and his mother-in-law, Nancy.

Marc was funny, kind, and always ready to help people whether he had just met them or had known them for years. He was a lovely man, and there are not enough words to do him justice. He will be very missed by everyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be planned for mid-March. Details forthcoming.

Thanks and praise go to God for helping the family through the tumultuous months leading up to Marc's death. He is and will be sorely missed in the earthly realm.

Marc was fun to visit with as he did carpentry projects for us and worked with my brother, Jack. We met through Jamie who worked with us for many years. Marc made her happy and was a great source of support. He is missed!

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my friend, who shared not only my last name but also a bond that felt like family. He always treated me like a brother, and I am so grateful for the kindness and generosity he showed me. I will never forget how quick he was to say thank you. Not just for what I did for his daughter, but for what he felt I did for the whole school. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his listening ear unmatched. He was, simply put, a great friend, and I will miss him dearly.

Rest in peace, my friend. Your legacy of kindness and joy will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know you.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Marc Armstrong´s passing. Marc was a familiar and welcome face at Automax, always taking the time to say hello and share his knowledge. He had a passion for firearms and was always ready to lend a helping hand. I had the privilege of knowing Marc for many years, and his warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this difficult time. He will be truly missed.

With deepest sympathy,

I don't have the depth of memories of Marc like most here, but my life is better for having known Marc. He gave me a helping hand when I needed one, and over the years, I would run into him at the oddest times, including once shortly after returning to the US from Iraq. He always had such a great and unique perspective.
We are diminished.

Words cannot express how much Marc means to me and my life. And how different my life would be I had not met Marc.

When I was a young adult, Marc was a father figure, mentor, buddy, boss, and brother.

Marc gave me my first paying job in construction and carpentry, a career I have had for almost 25 plus years now.

Marc and Jamie introduced me to my wife, Stefanie, which I have married to happily for 20 plus years and have 3 children with.

Later in life, Marc and I shared silly or dumb stories together on calls and through texts. Or we would met up for a cup of coffee like in the old days.

Marc was put in my life for a reason. My hope is that I can be as instrumental in someone else´s life as Marc Armstrong continue to be in mine.

Marc was one of my hallway buddies at SFS. I enjoyed many many fun conversations with him. Subjects varied. Our children, our spouses, dogs, firearms, food; you name it. Marc had a passionate opinion of all things in this life; and he conveyed those passions with amazing humor and kindness. His face always brightened and beamed with pride when his Zoe would come out of class at the end of the school day. He also always spoke lovingly of his wife Jamie too. I missed him after our kids went off to different high schools, thus ending our hallway time together. I will remember him as kind of a tough, funny, family oriented, renaissance man.

I met Marc while I was working at McBride´s in Austin. I forget the year, but it would have been in the late 90´s. We became friends over a shared love of unusual firearms, and local shooting competitions. When I was in between jobs, he offered me a position in his remodeling/carpentry knowing I knew almost nothing about that kind of work. He was generous and kind to a fault, and as good a friend as you could ever hope to find. I have missed visiting with him these last several years, though no fault of his. I´m honored and humbled to have known him, and to have built two beautiful 1911 pistols for him and his wife Jamie.

Marc was such a kind soul- always willing to help whenever and however he could. He always talked about how much he loved his family... and his German Shepards.

We have so much of his beautiful handiwork in our home, and we think of him every time we look at it.

May his memory be a blessing.

As an architect, I worked with Marc on several projects over a long stretch of years. He had the consummate heart of a craftsman and it was a joy to create with him.

Recently I thought of Marc as a possible mentor for an aspiring carpenter and recalled his pragmatism when he was remodeling our house and one of our sons fell in our fish pond. His reaction was simply "He learned an important lesson never to do that again"! And we laughed. Sympathies to his family and all who knew him.

After Marc completed a remodel of our home and especially our kitchen, I had the unique experience of working with Marc for several years building cabinets, doing remodels, and framing a multi-million dollar home on the hilltop above Lake Austin. What a remarkable experience to learn from a true craftsman and friend. Marc will be truly missed.

Marc was an excellent cook!!! He would bring food he made that was so different than what I would normally try. He loved to get me to try new things and laugh at my reactions!!!

Marc and I met in a place we both loved... a shooting range. We shared many memories on ranges across Central Texas. He taught me so many things... most of them through his example. He trusted me to pass on lessons to Elad, Omri and even one or two to Zoe. He left a large footprint on so many lives... including mine.
