Marc Willig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Marc Alan Willig of Doylestown, PA passed away at The University of Pennsylvania on August 14, 2025 at the age of 68.

Marc was born in Philadelphia, PA

He is the son to the late Paul and Ethel Willig (nee: Leibowitz).

Marc attended Mastbaum High School class of 1975.

Mark worked many years at Nathan Munchnik CD store. He also worked in Recovery helping others in Addiction.

He was a music lover through and through. He loved playing the trumpet and could listen to a song and tell you the title, artist, when recorded or remade.

He followed the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He loved doing Fantasy Football with his friends.

He is survived by his wife Bernadette(Bernie), his brother Kenneth Willig, sister-in-law, Ann (Rob) Hickson, and brothers-in-law, James P Butler,III, John W (Shirley) Butler, & Kevin A (Amanda) Butler.

He leaves children that he loved dearly, Philip Van Hulst, David (Rose)Van Hulst, Alex Willig & Jenna Willig, his many cousins, nieces and nephews. He leaves Granddaughter Isabel Van Hulst (Izzy) who he loved with all his being.

Marc has many friends from growing up in Overbook Park and in recovery, many of whom have helped me through his passing.

I also can't forget his best buddy Charlie who Marc knew was to be his dog when we found they shared the same birthday.

Miss you, Marc. 27 years ago you walked in that room. A stranger to me and I knew you would not be one for long. Thanks for turning me on to so much good music at the record stores in Philly. It´s good you´re at peace now, my friend.

Serendipity and curiousity drew me into Nathan Muchnick on Chestnut Street in 1991. And a common love/obsession for music led me into a kinship with Marc.

Not only did he help me score so many Olivia Newton-John import CDs, a visit with Marc was always a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster day at the office.

Learning of his dedication to helping others in their darker times only fortifies the knowledge that his spirit will live through all he affected.

And I will always laugh when I relive a moment we had at Elephant & Castle that coined our shared message sign off: "That´s so funny!"
