Marcia Orenstein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2025.
Attorney Helen Marcia Guy Orenstein, 84, of Rancho Bernardo, California passed away on March 7, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, San Diego, California. She was born in Rahway, N.J. She lived in Linden, N.J. and graduated from Linden High School where she was Salutatorian of her graduating class. She graduated cum laude from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa., received an M.A.T. degree from Johns Hopkins University and her law degree from University of Connecticut School of Law. She lived in Westport, Hartford, and Windsor, Connecticut and clerked for Hon. Owen Eagan at U.S. District Court in Hartford before relocating to San Diego, where she practiced law with Moore and McGhee until starting her own law practice for twenty-five years, becoming a Certified California Family Law Specialist. Marcia was the cherished wife of former law school dean Howard Orenstein of Rancho Bernardo, devoted mother to attorney Glenn Evan Anaiscourt (Dawn) of Concord, California, and Lee Lindsay Fruit (Steve) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She was the beloved grandmother of John Howard Fruit and Benjamin Stephen Fruit of Glen Ellyn. Perhaps her most remarkable accomplishment, among many, is the love she shared with an extensive family, friends and acquaintances. Her sharp mind, empathetic nature and notable energy produced intellectual, athletic and leadership abilities throughout her life. She touched many lives with her warm and loving spirit, wry sense of humor and her genuine, authentic human interest and service. Family and friends affectionately recall that she could fix anything. In addition to husband Howard, son Glenn and daughter Lee, she leaves sister Marilyn Dill, brother Ronald Guy, sister-in-law Jackie Guy, all of New Jersey, nieces, nephews and friends throughout the world. Her passing is deeply grieved by the countless lives she touched. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Prebys Infusion Center, San Diego, for their exceptionally kind and caring assistance. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Ed Brown Senior Center, 18402 W. Bernardo Dr, San Diego, CA 92127, from 2:00-4:00pm.

Marsha was one of a kind. She and I used to enjoy conversing about so many different topics and never ran out of interesting things to talk about. She was a loyal friend. I think about her often, and was so saddened to hear about her passing.

Many knew Marcia for some time; such a gift. No matter how long you knew her, it was not long enough. She was deeply engaged in everything she championed, and such a generous spirit. She was genuinely interested and supportive of others, and wickedly funny. Miss you, dear Marcia!

Howard, Glenn and Lee, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Marcia was a class act, a good friend and neighbor. I had the utmost respect and admiration when she shared her decision to get a law degree. She accomplished her goal never missing a beat as wife and mother.
I will always cherish my memories of my friends Marcia.

Dear Howard,

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about Marcia´s passing. One is never prepared for such a loss. She was a remarkable woman-an exceptional family law attorney whose wisdom and compassion touched so many lives. More than that, she was a true friend to everyone she met, always so kind to me, always thoughtful, always giving. Her kindness and warmth made the world a better place.

Her partnership with you, Howard, was something to admire-a beautiful bond built on love and mutual respect. I hope that in this difficult time, you find comfort in the countless memories you shared and in knowing how deeply she was cherished by so many.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time of loss.

With deepest sympathy,
Vic Bianchini
