Marcine Kathryn Moore

Marcine Kathryn Hummel Moore, 93, of Brevard, NC, died peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018, after a short illness. Marcine was a homemaker and a dearly loved friend to many. She had a sharp mind and a shrewd sense of humor, was an avid bridge player, and pieced together more than a thousand jigsaw puzzles. She was born on September 26, 1924, and raised in Morrisdale, PA, the daughter of Samuel Omer Hummel and Bessie Edna Rothrock Hummel. She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Jennings Moore, at age 18. They raised six children and enjoyed their life together until his death in 1984. Marcine moved to Brevard in 2011 with her daughter Carol and son-in-law Dick Tucker. She loved the community of wonderful people she found in Brevard. Marcine was preceded in death by her husband and two of their sons, Donald Omer Moore and Bryan Jennings Moore, as well as by four sisters and four brothers. Surviving are four children: Carol Moore of Brevard, NC; Amy LaBrecque of Sebring, FL; Marcine Cantellay of Ocean Shores, WA, and Clark Moore, currently living and working in Kazakhstan. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Melissa Seay and Gerry Moore (FL), Jennifer Tucker (Costa Rica), Lisa Tucker (NC), Gavin Moore (SC), Valora Everly (KY), Cindy Bergman (CT), Sean Cantellay (ND), Ryan Cantellay, Milton Cantellay and Erin Sabo (WA), as well as by twenty-eight great grandchildren and some great-great grands. Marcine retained her lifelong membership in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church, where she will be interred next to her husband later this month. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Strange & Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Morrisdale, PA. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
