Margaret Grigsby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
Phoenix - Margaret Ann "Margy" Grigsby (née Gray), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Born on September 8, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, Margy was the daughter of Howard Gray and Caroline Warren. She grew up in Prescott alongside her siblings Charlotte Morgan, Howard Gray Jr., and Marlowe Snyder. Her early years were shaped by a love of art and nature-passions that would remain central throughout her life.

Margy pursued her education at Prescott High School before continuing her studies at the Washington School of Art and Glendale Community College. Her artistic spirit led her to unique opportunities, including working as an extra in the film *The Greatest Story Ever Told*.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Margy's legacy lives on through her children: Carol and Phil Davis; Kathy and Jason Waitukaitis; Russ and Kandi Smith; Tim and Norma Smith; Jackie Sordahl; Jennie and Pat Carroll; Clifford Grigsby; and Sherry Grigsby. She was a proud grandmother to Phillip, Chris, Katy, Dan, Amber, Carrie, Scott, Matt, Jeffrey, Mandee, Sydney, Alexa, Sam, Tim, Julia, Jake, Jennie, and Cody. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of great-grandchildren: Logan, Chase, Olivia, Ayden, Xavi, Melia, Kinsee, Mattis, Brooklyn, Peyton, Derrick, Carolyne, Trey, Ethan, Zeke, Arthur, Nova, and Thea.

Margy was predeceased by her parents; her sister Charlotte Morgan; brother Howard Gray Jr.; ex-husband Russ Smith; husband Russ Grigsby; and son-in-law Jeff Sordahl.

She found peace in the outdoors-hiking trails under open skies or camping beneath the stars-and expressed herself through painting with a vibrant hand. Those who knew Margy remember her as an artistic soul with a loving heart who gave generously to those around her.

A memorial service celebrating Margy's life will be held at a later date when all of her family can attend.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
