MARGARET GRACE KEVORKIAN

Margaret Grace Kevorkian, nee Kizirian, 86, of Palatine and Elmhurst, IL passed away on February 24th. Born July 25th, 1929 in Whitinsville (Worcester County), Massachusetts, she was the beloved mother of Diane (Kent) Davis, Jon Kevorkian, Peter Kevorkian and Dale (Steven) Svec. Cherished grandmother of Cathryne (Bert) Meeks, Sam (Sora) Almon, Claire Almon, Trevor Almon, Peter (Kayla) Almon, Danielle Davis, Alyssa Davis, Joshua (Beth) Davis, Ryan (Amanda) Davis, Trevor Kevorkian and Myles Svec. Great-grandmother of Amanda and Summer Meeks, Sasha and Juniper Almon, Katarina Almon and Joy Davis. Dear sister of Ani (Paul) Bazigian and the late John Kizirian. Much-loved aunt of nieces Leslie Kissick, Joanne Lewis and nephews Craig Bazigian, John Kizirian. Margaret was the daughter of Serop and Maritza Kizirian who immigrated to the United States from Kharpert, Armenia. She spoke fluent Armenian and English; completing high school at the top of her class. She was an accomplished violinist in her youth, often accompanied by her sister Ani on the piano. After high school she attended and graduated from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Providence, Rhode Island. She began her career and later became engaged and married to A. Trevor Kevorkian (deceased 2007) in 1953. They moved to the Chicago area in 1965 and later settled with their four children in Palatine, IL. Margaret cared a great deal about people. While her children were growing up she was active in their lives, serving as Cub Scout leader and PTA treasurer, among other things. She continued to enjoy the arts, writing poetry and attending theatre with friends throughout her adult life. She loved animals and being in nature. Margaret attended Willow Creek Community Church for many years where she volunteered and served regularly in multiple capacities. She touched the lives of many people, including the lovely caregivers and medical staff who provided her care toward the latter part of her life. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, the endearing friendships she shared and her commitment to her family. She will be greatly missed. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 Algonquin Road, South Barrington, IL, in the Chapel, Entrance B. Visitation at 10:00 AM.
