Margaret Germaine McLaughlin (nee Sullivan), 89, Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Dover, MA - Margaret Germaine McLaughlin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025 at the age of 89.

Born in Woburn on June 21, 1936, to the late John and Catherine Sullivan, Margaret was raised in Boston's South End. She attended Cathedral High School and subsequently graduated from Emmanuel College.

In 1960, Margaret married James McLaughlin and settled in Dover, MA, in 1971, where they raised their two sons. Margaret found her greatest joy in her family and poured her energy, wisdom, and spirit into enriching their lives. She began her career as a music teacher, later working side by side with her husband in several family-run businesses.

Margaret will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and spirited nature. She was fun-loving and quick to laugh, yet also deeply compassionate and unwaveringly supportive. Her strength, kindness, and perseverance left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her sons James McLaughlin (and his wife Melissa) and John McLaughlin (and his wife Christina), and by her four beloved grandchildren: Margaret (Maggie), James (Jimmy), Nathaniel, and Alexis. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James McLaughlin.

Margaret spent her final years surrounded by those she loved most. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the lives she touched. She will be profoundly missed. A private memorial will be held to celebrate Margaret's life.

Please accept the condolences of the Emmanuel College community upon Margaret's passing, a member of the Class of '58 which fostered the mission of education both of the College and the founding Sisters of Notre Dame which she loved so much. We shall add her name to the intentions at our next Memorial Mass.

May her soul, and those of all our dear departed Alumnae, friends and families, rest in peace and rise in glory.
