THE BOOK OF LIFE
"Margie Drumgoole"

CHAPTER ONE
On November 19, 1940, the world was introduced to a beautiful baby girl named Margie Lee Penn. She was born in Pineville, a small town adjacent to Alexandria, Louisiana. She grew up under the nurturing parentage of Daniel Davis, Amanda Thomas, and Ernest and Laura Penn. She graduated from Rosenwald High School in Sicily Island, Louisiana. The beautiful baby girl was now a beautiful woman and ready to see what the world had to offer.

CHAPTER TWO
As Margie was navigating her way through life, she caught the eye of handsome young man named Wimphus L. Drumgoole. They fell in love and exchanged wedding vows in January, 1959. Through their union, Margie became a military wife and, with her new husband, she had the opportunity to leave Louisiana and travel the world. But before they hit the skyways, Margie and Wimphus would bring into the world their firstborn, a daughter who they named Tonia Casandra. Two years later, while living in Germany, their second daughter, Cathy Lynn was born. And two years after that, while living in Texas, the youngest daughter was born and they gave her the name Winifred Marcia, based on their names. While married, Margie was extremely industrious. She and Wimphus renovated a house from the ground up together. She was an excellent seamstress. She was an amazing cook. She had tremendous administrative skills and no matter what state or country they traveled to, Margie always embraced the culture, the language, and the customs. The beautiful woman was now a beautiful wife and mother.

CHAPTER THREE
As time went on, Margie and Wimphus found themselves at a crossroad in their marriage and went their separate ways. Margie headed to different states and eventually landed in Los Angeles, California in the early 1970s. There she stayed with her favorite first cousin and best friend, Clarice Taylor. The "little girls" as they affectionately called each other, were inseparable. She found work at The Broadway Department Store and Walgreens and soon found a place of her own. Ultimately, she found a home for her and her three daughters at 204 West 93rd Street in Los Angeles. There she became a Powerhouse raising her three girls as a single mother. She would also build her legacy on 93rd Street as a woman of strength and character. And she made sure that Toni, Lynn, and Winnie would carry on these characteristics that she carefully instilled in each of them. The beautiful wife and mother was now a beautiful force to be reckoned with.

CHAPTER FOUR
Later in her life, Margie welcomed the birth of her first grandchild, Michael Tardy, Jr. Soon to follow was her second grandson, Darian Terrell and then came the first granddaughter, Jennifer Dominique. After doting on each of them, the second generation of grandchildren were born – Maurice "Reesy" Clements, Nathanael "Scooter" Washington, and Kamal "Malley" Hatter. One thing everybody knew about Margie was that, yes she loved her daughters, but her grandchildren were the heartbeats of her life. When her great-grandchildren were born – Semora Hodges, Autumn Clements, Amari Washington – she was ecstatic. The beautiful force was now a beautiful grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch.

CHAPTER FIVE
On Thursday, November 24th, 2016 our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, first cousin, auntie, cousin, confidante, and friend, Margie Drumgoole ascended into Heaven with the band of angels that the Lord commissioned to go get her. And whether you knew her by one of the many nicknames she had obtained over the years, ie Large Marge, Margie P., Bobbie, Little Girl, Loff, MD, Mother Dear, Little lady (pronounced lay-tee), or Ms. Drumgoole, she now has a new name. She now bears the new name of one of God's Chosen and she is now in the company of all those angels she used tell us were watching over us. She leaves behind a wealth of family and friends who will cherish her in our hearts forever. Her final chapter has been written and now the beautiful woman is a beautiful angel.
