Maria Lynn "Riri" Crawford

Maria Lynn "Riri" Crawford, 52, of Tallahassee, passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2024.
Born to Kenneth and Rowena Bazo (Grimes) on April 30, 1971.

From a young age, Maria's love for music was evident. No matter which chapter of life was present, she let the notes carry her to the next day. She let loose among piano keys, stomped to every beat, and sang amongst angels. She taught her children the sound of music and a few of her favorite things.

Maria's career was defined by her love for others. She was dedicated to healthcare and improving the quality of life of the people around her. She served as a nurse and found interest in neurology.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Maria found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound connection to the beach; often seeking refuge on sandy shores where she could listen to the rhythmic melodies of the sea and feel the warmth of the sun. Maria's love for the beach was a source of comfort and inspiration. Her destination was always where the sand met the sea.

Maria's generous spirit and compassionate nature endeared her to all who knew her. Her acts of kindness touched countless lives; whether it was standing in line at Burger King on Christmas morning and swiping her card until her bonus was gone, or hosting an entire BBQ for her local community friends, she was inspired. Maria's impact extended far beyond her immediate circle. The small food pantry she built and put in her front yard will be moved to her brother-in-laws church, where it will continue to serve others.

Maria was predeceased by her parents and sister, Alicia Black. She is survived by her sister, Donna (Jack) Lewis; her children, Kenneth "Andrew" Crawford and Teresa "Morgan" Crawford, as well as her granddaughter Olivia Jade Bower. Maria was overjoyed to be welcoming another precious granddaughter in June.

Maria leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her children, who take comfort in the endless amount of memories they shared together.

A celebration of Maria's life will be held with close friends and family in the near future. In lieu of flowers or donations, please fill up your local food pantry with rice and beans.
