Maria PAIVA Obituary
June 21, 1941- September 18, 2015
Beloved mother, grandmother (Vavo) and great- grandmother, Maria Gloria Paiva passed away on Friday September 18, 2015 at the age of 74 years. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her daughters; Olivia Paiva (David McNevin), Suzie (Brian) Pepe and Margaret (Tom) Linn; her grandchildren Jennifer McNevin, Michael Pepe, Melissa Pepe and Danielle Linn; and 4 great- grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by her brothers and sisters Maria Jose Barros, Lourdes Melo, Conceicao Medeiros Oliveira, and Ilidio Medeiros as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and in Portugal. She was predeceased by her husband Hermano Amaral Paiva and brother Manuel and parents Jaime Jacinto and Maria de Jesus Medeiros. Maria was born in Sao Roque, Sao Miguel, Acores. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Southwood Hospice for the care and compassion shown to their mother. A Prayer Service will be held for Maria at St. Mary's Cathedral (219 - 18 Avenue SW, Calgary) on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Maria on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Maria's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca). Messages of condolences may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
