GREENSBORO — Marie T. Fittante passed away on April 21, 2010 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with Rev. Ward Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Marie worked as an office manager for Wimbush Insurance Agency for many years, and later spent many hours volunteering at the Shepherd Center of Greensboro. She enjoyed playing basketball in her youth and watching her beloved Duke Blue Devils. She loved gardening and her dog Misty.
Marie was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Merrill and Alfred Fittante; and her sister Nell Songster. She is survived by her step children, Steven Fittante and wife Sally, and David Fittante all of NJ, Dana Fittante and husband Shawn of ME, and Phil Fittante and wife Jane of Greensboro; niece Karen Valentine and cousin Charles Sox; 6 step grandchildren and three great nieces and one great nephew.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Shepherd Center of Greensboro 302 W. Market Street Greensboro, NC 27401.
The family will visit with friends on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.

Marie was a wonderful lady with a great sense of humor. I enjoyed seeing Marie and her dog, Misty, when they came into the Vet's office.
