My mom's memory is totally intertwined with my every thought, my reality, my dreams, everything. Not a day passes, not an important event happens, not a sad or happy moment comes by without my mind going straight to her and imagining what she would have said or done. Her smile is constantly before me, her voice, her jokes... For some reason though, I have a hard time associating her with someone who is dead. She remains totally alive in my mind.
Yes, happy first birthday in heaven to my mommy. Oh, how I long to see her again some day. By God's grace, I will for sure.

When I miss my mom so much that the pain becomes unbearable, I turn my spirit's eyes towards the other side and imagine her smiling, enjoying every moment "surrounded by His glory" and his love. I also think about how fully she lived her life... She loved to the fullest, pursued her dreams to the fullest, gave herself to God's work to the fullest, fulfilled God's will in her life to the fullest. Even when it came to being classy... again to the fullest. I know she's one of the few people that can truly say, "I have no regret about the way I lived my life."
I dread Thanksgiving. She was such a presence, more than any other holiday. She would have started preparing by now. On the eve of Thanksgiving she would spend all night preparing beautiful, artfully decorated dishes and early in the morning she would start calling every one of us, making sure we'll be there on time. She would be making sure everything is perfect until the very last minute... and then she would finally hurry to take a shower, encouraging us to start and not wait for her.
What a classy, devoted, caring, selfless lady she was.
Yes, I can only imagine, but how I wish I could actually see her in heaven, hug her, see her smile, hear her voice. Thank God we all have the same blessed assurance of being reunited some day in the presence of the one we all love, our Jesus, our Savior

I had the honor of meeting Soeur Luc in two different avenues. First, in the christian family and second, we had worked for the same company once. In both occasions, she was always carrying this welcoming smile while engaging in conversations. I'd like to offer this quote on her behalf. "The world is your mirror and your mind is a magnet.
What you perceive is in this world is largely a reflection of your own attitudes and beliefs.
Life will give you what you attract with your thoughts think, act and talk negatively and your world will be negative.

Grandma, walking into the house and not going through our usual routine has been the biggest reality check for me, not seeing those nice pearly whites smile back at me when I say “hi grandma” and you asking “how are you doing baby?” has made everything become so unfamiliar, because there is a great piece of everyone's lives now missing. Your dedication to all that you put your mind to and perseverance is what I will always remember about you. You set the bar high for all of us and I am thankful to have had you as a teacher, I hope to become half the women you were. I am also grateful that our last words to each other were “I love you” on the day you left for the airport to fulfill one of your many dreams, and projects, because that has been the one thing that has brought me peace and happiness as we mourn your death.
