MARILYN Detroit's Iconic Female Entrepreneur, Ad Industry Leader Founder of internationally recognized The Mars Agency passes away with family by her side after a brave battle with cancer. Marilyn Barnett founded The Mars Agency with the vision of building a world-class agency deeply rooted in family-oriented ideals. Mars has become the world's largest independent shopper marketing agency, totaling a 500+ employee agency network servicing clients in 11 U.S. offices along with branch offices in Toronto, Canada and a European headquarters in London, England. "My mom had the guts to lay down the roots that made it all possible" said Global CEO Ken Barnett. Ms. Barnett was an inductee of the Adcraft Hall of Fame, had been named Advertising Woman of the Year, recipient of the Top Agency Management Award, Women in Communication's Headliner Award, Entrepreneur of the Year, Outstanding Retail Marketing Executive, Outstanding Retail Woman of the Year, Michigan's Top 25 Women Business Owner, Oakland County Executive of the Year, Governor's Recognition and Executive Women of America. Beloved wife of 65 years of Melvin Barnett. Cherished mother of Rhona (Alan) Gorosh and Ken (Mari) Barnett. Loving grandma of Kasie (Nathan) Brill, Emily (Brandon) Pomish, Alex (Jordon) Wertheimer and Jake (Madeline Morrison) Barnett. Proud GG of Nora Pomish. Dear sister of Dr. Donald (the late Rosalie) Schiff and Renee (Larry Zisman) Schiff. Also survived by many lifelong friends, her business associates and her loving family at The Mars Agency. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:00 at Ira Kaufman Chapel. It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Marilyn Barnett do so by making a contribution to: Temple Israel Rabbi's Fund 5725 Walnut Lake Rd.
