Marilyn Lyons Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 6, 2019.
Marilyn Joan Lyons, age 82, of Danbury, CT passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

Marilyn was born January 5, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest daughter of Yvonne and Alfonzo (Alfred) Margarella, and always looked up to her big sisters Gloria and Yvonne. Marilyn loved all things Brooklyn, including her home team, the Brooklyn Dodgers. As a young woman, Marilyn worked as a legal secretary, but after meeting a student at Fordham University, Tony Lyons from Clondalkin, Ireland, they married and began to build their family together. They settled in Danbury, CT, where the raised their family of 8 children. Marilyn was devoted to her family–her greatest joy.

The daughter of French and Italian parents, she always considered herself just a wee bit Irish, as she sang along to Danny Boy, Four Green Fields, and Wild Irish Rose. A lover of animals, she was rarely without a cat by her side. Marilyn had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh, and dance, and sing. Marilyn was loved so very much and will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

AMY GRACER

February 8, 2019

Mom, I will always remember you smiling and reaching out for a hug. I will always remember all the little songs you'd make up (sometimes because you didn't know the words, but that's OK!) I will always remember that you tried to make holidays beautiful, and your Christmas traditions are now ours. I'll always remember the special trip to the store and the Twinkie you bought me (nothing for yourself) when Eileen went off to her first day of school, and we were alone together for the first time at home (not for long... welcome Maureen!). That was such a treat. I will always remember your joy at seeing your grandchildren. So many memories: Mom, I will remember you with Love, always.
