Marilyn L. Ley Rhind, 86, died at 11:45 a.m. June 26, 2013, at Springview Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 3, 1926, in Rockwood, Tenn., to Earl Abel and Helen Faye East Gibson, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 12, 1943, she married Bill Ley, who died Dec. 30, 1974. On Nov. 1, 1978, she married Donald Rhind, who died Jan. 20, 1999. Mrs. Rhind attended Lima Central High School, received a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio Northern University, Ada, and a master's degree from St. Frances College, Fort Wayne, Ind. She taught English and history at Lima City Schools for 15 years. She retired in 1987 after 12 years as a guidance counselor from Wapakoneta schools. She enjoyed traveling, tennis, painting, knitting and crocheting. She loved music and played the organ and the piano. Most of all, she loved her family and will be remembered as a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include three children, Dennis (Ginny) Ley, Janice (Ron) Roberts and Alan (Terri) Ley, all of Lima; 11 grandchildren, Dennis (Kim) Ley, Steve (Annette) Ley, Michael (Kyle) Ley, Cristy (Jared) Moening, Clint (Julie) Roberts, Angela (Brian) Keas, Tracy (Craig) Bradford, Randi (Gary) Rupersburg, Shawn Ley, Cory (Sarah) Ley and Steve (Jenny) Ley; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Owen Gibson, of Rockwood, Tenn. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Little Earl and baby Gibson. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Mike Boyes will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Rita's Hospice. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com.
