Dear Wanda, we just found out about Marissa's passing while talking with Diane at the store a couple of days ago. Maruka and I were both so shocked and saddened by the news. We knew her when she was small till when she got into her teens. She was such a nice girl. I can still see her practicing her gymnastic moves on the grass in front. We ran into her a few years ago when she was working at the pet supplies store down on Centrum and she was her usual bubbly and absolutely nice self. It's hard to understand why these things happen. She will be missed by all who knew her. Our condolences to you Wanda, Perry and Jordan.

Wanda, Perry and Jordan

We just learned of Marissa’s passing yesterday and we are all shocked and saddened. Marissa was a big part of the boys childhood. When ever Cody would meet Marissa somewhere he would inform me that he saw his “big sister” today. She was a wonderful child that we enjoyed spending many hours with over the years. In recent years I met up with her a few times and I could tell she was still that beautiful caring girl. Though her life was too short I hope it brings you some comfort to know that Marissa knew she had a very loving family that cared about her deeply.
Marissa will always be in our hearts.

Dear Wanda,

I only learned today of Marissa's passing. How shocked and saddened I am to hear of this.

I remember driving on the bus with her on several occasions. What a delightful and wonderful person she was. So determined in her field of nursing.

Oh Wanda, This is your bus buddy from a year ago. I am so shocked.

Please take care of yourself and hopefully you will let me come and see you in the near future.

Take Care,

Lynda

Wanda, Perry, Jordan and Louis,

I just learned the news. My deepest condolences for your loss. I am saddened that Marissa and I both lived in Orleans and never got together for that coffee date we said we would do. I am grateful for the memories I had with her, like the 1994 dance competition and being with her when she got her first tattoo (2001?)

I will miss you Marissa! XOXO

Our sincerest sympathy to all of you. The loss of a young one is especially heartbreaking. Our loving Creator knows how hard this is on you. Psalms 147:3 says, 'He is healing the broken hearted ones and binding up their painful spot'. As the God and Father of tender mercies, He wants you to find comfort in Him through prayer 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.

I got to know Marissa quite well at CHEO, as her clinical manager on 4 West and as her colleague when she came to the GI clinic for a few weeks. She was so determined and worked so hard to gain knowledge, to sharpen up her skills and to become a true professional. No challenge was too much for her- her curiosity, patience and love for the kids carried her through even the most challenging situations. She was always bright and cheery and I knew that I could count on her to do her absolute best. I was priviledged to know Marissa and offer my most sincere condolances to those who loved her.

Wanda, Perry, Jordan and Angela,

I finally got the courage to write you a note. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what you are all going through You know that we loved Marissa so much. It hurts knowing that we won't see her again. She was part of our family. I still can't believe that she is gone. I can still hear her coming in the house saying "Hi Madame Séguin" followed by a kiss and a big hug. I will miss that so much. She was a beautiful girl, inside and out. You know Wanda that we are only a phone call away (day or night). If you need anything, just call.

Hello to Marissa's family
I met Marissa when she was one of my students at U of O...she did her first practicum with me at CHEO and I saw the light in her eyes when she came to clinical each day. She had the gift to work with Children and I was so pleased to help her achieve that goal. I was shocked and saddened to hear of her loss. My thoughts are with you all during this time

It's hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful, loving person who has passed away so early in life. Marissa had grown to be a beautiful spirited woman who was greatly loved and respected. She enriched everyones life she met and will be greatly missed by many. It is comforting to know that God has a bigger plan for her. Everytime I see a star twinkle, I will think of Marissa smiling!

November 26, 2009

The only thing Marissa possessed sharper than her mind was her tongue. The blunt honesty she brought forth to all conversation will always be one of my fondest memories of her.

The times our families spent together will forever be etched in my mind, and her contagious smile and silly nature made her a pleasure to be around.

To Wanda, Perry, Jordan and Louis, I can only say to keep strong. I know you'll all find your peace of mind in time, as difficult as it may seem to do so.

I am honoured to have been family, and even more honoured to have known her. Thank you for everything, cuz. I love you and will miss you.

Marissa had recently joined us part-time in the GI clinic and already we could see what an enthusiatic and caring person and Nurse she was! During a particularily busy clinic day, she got us all dreaming and laughing when she suggested we take flight to a sunny southern location and sit in the sun with umbrella drinks! I pray she is basking in the sunshine and that her loved ones are comforted in this very sad time of loss.

I have known Marissa since she was a young girl, she was always giving, caring, and sensitive to the needs of others. It is with great pride that I remember seeing her again after many years, as a student nurse on my unit at the Ottawa Hospital. She was a great nurse and I tried to convince her to come and work along side me in Oncology once she had graduated. She had said with enthusiasm and determination that her hope was to work with the kids at Cheo. She was so excited about her future and I was so proud of her, that she had reached her goal. I know she would have had a long and rewarding career making a difference in the lives of children. This is my fondest memory of Marissa and it is with tremendous saddness to learn her life was taken so early. Wanda, My heart goes out to you, I cannot even begin to understand the depths of your loss. I hope the memories of your beautiful girl bring you comfort through these most difficult of days. Heather
