Marj BATER Obituary
November 16, 1935 – February 19, 2017
Marj was welcomed through the gates of heaven by her husband Don, parents Fred and Marion Grosse, and infant brother Larry. She leaves to cherish the memories, sons: Kim, Kevin (Donna), Kirby (Heather) and daughter Kelly (Raym); grandchildren: Charolette (Taras), Justin, Jesse (Whitney), Matt (Kara), Hana, Alex, Tyler; great- grandchildren: Holden Tristan, Ryder and Blake; also siblings: Ken (Sandra), Merv (Lynette), Noreen (Les), Phillip, and Don's siblings, nieces and nephews. Marj grew up in the Kelliher area. As a young woman she met and married Don Bater. As he was a United Church minister they would live in many communities over the years, until retirement, when they settled in Rouleau. Marj was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Her greatest life passion was for her family. Marj was never happier than at their cottage at Regina Beach surrounded by family. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Rouleau Town Hall, Rouleau, SK. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Rouleau United Church.

Last evening Patrick rang to tell us that
our dear friend Marj had passed away. What can I say but that we were so glad we met Marj and Don during their time in Masterton New Zealand and cherished the
wonderful times we shared together. We so enjoyed visiting them in Canada and cannot say enough of the wonderful time they gave us. Thank goodness we have such wonderful
memories. Our prayers and thoughts and love go out to you all at this time. Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent and it was through my delivering the Lentern Programme to Don and Marj at the Lansdowne
Manse that we all met. Today in our Mass you were all remembered in a special way.

Just recently heard of Marj's death. We knew your Dad and Mom around 1956 at the Lakehead. Stan and your Dad worked together at CPRail. Have wonderful memories of good times shared together. I would like to pass on condolences from Dorothy Kydd's family. Marg was a true friend to mom when they lived in Wolseley. They kept in touch over the years and could be heard giggling over the latest antics of Don's ( ie his forever lost dentures). Cherish every memory of this beautiful lady

I remember Marj well from when they lived in Wynyard.
She was the "minister's wife" and held a full time job at Golden Acres nursing home, a job that she truly loved.
When my youngest son was a week old, it was Marj who came over with a large hamburger casserole and noticed how tired I was.
She sent me and my new baby for a nap and entertained the other two boys while she did laundry and tidied the kitchen. That was her "day off".
That's the work of a true Christian.

To the Bater Family - I was a member of the Foote Copeland Church through my entire growing up years then a couple years ago I was honored to look after Marg at the RGH only to find out that Charlotte my supervisor was "the granddaughter"!!
