STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Marjorie Parker Holzman, age 70, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. Marjorie was born in Statesboro, the daughter of the late F.C. and Jewell Brown Parker. She was a 1961 graduate of Statesboro High School and a 1963 graduate of Tift College in Forsyth, Ga. Following her graduation from Tift College, Marjorie returned to Statesboro where she attended Georgia Southern College, graduating in 1965. While attending GSC, Marjorie met Martin Holzman and the two married in September of 1966.
Marjorie and Martin traveled with his career with the Job Corp U.S. Department of Forestry, residing in Washington, Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1976 they moved their family to Statesboro where she resided until her death. Martin preceded Marjorie in death in 2005 and that same year she became a resident of Gentilly Gardens in Statesboro.
She was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Care Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tiffany Holzman of Los Angeles, Calif., and Walter and Emily Holzman of McDonough, Ga.; three grandchildren, Martin Maxwell Holzman, John Walter Holzman and Raleigh Holzman; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marcia Parker of Statesboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Doug Daniel of Atlanta; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Wayne Wills of Atlanta and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating.
Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Care Sunday School Class.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, Ga. 30458.
