may 25,
I COACHED MARK IN AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL AND ALSO ALL STAR GAMES IN BOYS BASEBALL. HE WAS A CHARACTER, BUT LOVED TO WIN. MARK PRIDED HIMSELF TO ALWAYS MAKE CONTACT AND WAS ONE OF THE BEST HITTERS I EVER HAD. I DID'NT KNOW HE WAS SICK BUT I'M SURE HE BATTLED THAT AS WELL. REST IN PEACE MARK, THE WORLD IS BETTER BECAUSE YOU WERE IN IT.

My deepest sympathy to the Ganska family. I grew up less than a block from the Ganskas'. I knew all of them well. God Bless Mark and his family.

I never really knew Mark at Prep, but, from afar, he was really good at any sport he participated in, plus, he was funnier than hell.
Rest in Peace, Mark

Condolences to my extended family. I haven't seen Mark much over the years, but I do remember him from the Ganska reunions. I was young, but he had such a wonderful personality that won't be forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to Ganska family on their loss.
Mark "FOE" Ganska was probably the purest hitter ever to come out of Erie, PA. Mark played for us at Cathedral Prep from 1972 to 1975. While he started out as a JV player, he was brought up to the varsity several times in his freshman year and started from his sophomore year playing as a catcher, first basemen and third basemen.
Our coaching staff, myself, Tom Kalista and Stan Brzezicki pushed Mark as best we could to advance himself as player, leader and person. Mark bucked on the way, but we certainly enjoyed coaching him and watching him grow as a player and person.
His baseball career at Prep and Gannon can offer many a story involving Mark. While his passing is all too soon, I know his memory will live in all of us whose lives he touched.
Sincerely,
Lou Ensani

My heart goes out to Mark's family, as do my prayers! This modern day Babe Ruth was in a class all his own! Tremendous athlete and jokester who was the life of the gathering. Truly an accomplished baseball player as well as bowler in younger days, he embraced life with an uncommon passion. That passion was again seen as he left his "glory days" in his early 20's to pursue his next and lifelong passion in the Burgh, his new bride and the family life.
I was able to see him only a few times since then, when I traveled down and we might meet for lunch...It was always a pleasure! He will be missed!

Mark and I have been a couple for 39 years; in June 2017 married 35 years. He was the perfect match for me, almost an opposite in many ways. He was active in the community and made so many friends - my life was so much better for his ways and all the people he brought to my life. I have been reading the kind words and memories of all who knew him and it is those words that give me my better moments right now. I love you Mark, I miss you so much, but the suffering is over. You were a brave man who made it easy to take care of you during your illness: no complaints and always considerate. Our children will be your reflection in the world by their lives.
