Mark Kent Glankler, 70, of Memphis, TN, passed away on December 17, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 14, 1953, in Memphis, Mark was the son of the late Teena Sullivan Glankler and Frank J. Glankler, Jr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Glankler.

Mark was a proud veteran, having served in the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He received several commendations for his service, including the Army Commendation Medal, the 82nd Airborne Distinguished Trooper Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Parachute Medal, and the Special Weapons Expert Badge.

Following his military service, Mark dedicated his career to law enforcement. He began his journey as a member of the Memphis Airport Police in 1977. He then served as a Police Detective at the Germantown Police Department before becoming a Special Agent/Criminal Investigator for the Shelby County District Attorney General. Mark's passion for justice led him to become the Director of the West TN Violent Crimes Drug Task Force. He also served as a Task Force Agent for the DEA-Drug Task Force.

Mark will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and country. He took great pride in his career in law enforcement and his service to the community. Mark is survived by his daughter, Laura Glankler Cheston (Cary) and two grandchildren, Ava and Noah; his siblings: Butch Glankler, Frank Glankler, Jade Glankler Maldonado (Carlos), Risa Glankler, Adam Glankler, Christopher Glankler (Anne), Mary Glankler Abee, and Kimberly Holley (Joe); his step-mother Gail Glankler, as well as his beloved Virginia Hall.

A private ceremony honoring Mark's life will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, organizations that were close to Mark's heart.

Mark Kent Glankler will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His dedication to his country, his community, and his loved ones will forever be cherished.

Such a great dude. The entire Glankler family have been much loved by the entire Wiener family led by my late father Dr. Ed Wiener. Selfless acts of kindness is how i will remember Mark.
