Mark Gray Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2025.
Mark Nicholas Gray ("Nick"), born on July 28, 1954, and was raised in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, passed away on July 19, 2025. Nick's early years were shaped by the close-knit community of Austin, where he attended St. Thomas Aquinas School, followed by St. Patrick High School and then Addison Trail High School when his family moved to the suburbs, graduating in 1972.

In 1977, Nick married the love of his life, Cathy (nee Lugo). Together, they made their home in Lombard, Illinois, where they raised their three children and built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Nick and Cathy always knew how to have a good time. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Nick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cathy, his father Leo, mother Rosaline, and his in-laws Sam and Esther Lugo. He is survived by his children: Nicholas (and grandson Hayden, with Hayden's mother Yadira), Michael (Corrie), and Janelle (Brad) Woosley. He also leaves behind his siblings Dennis (Cindy), Kathy (Ray) Pagnozzi, and Rosemarie (Rey) Nolazco, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Nick will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion, 310 W. Butterfield Rd. in Elmhurst, Illinois on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:00am-3:00 pm where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Nick and Cathy's lives.
