Mark D. Moon, of Red Bank, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014. He was 55 years old.

Mark was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a 1977 graduate of Red Bank High School where he played basketball. Mark received his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a longtime employee with Heatec. Mark was an avid deer and turkey hunter and enjoyed archery. He also loved to fresh water fish. Mark was a Civil War buff and enjoyed hunting relics in the Chattanooga area. He loved to ride motorcycles and was a member and president of the Southeastern Trail Riders Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Moon, Sr.; and brother, Judge Robert "Bob" L. Moon, Jr.

Mark is survived by his mother, Christine L. Moon; sister-in-law, Debbie Moon and girlfriend, Shawn Kurrelmeier-Lee

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, April 27 and again on Monday from 12:30 to 2 pm at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Services for Mark will follow at 2 pm on Monday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Jeff "Ollie" Oliver, Greg Jones, Chris Cox, Randy Sharp, Reggie Wrinkle, Chris Gilreath and Chris Belcher serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Southeastern Trail Riders Association.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Mark's name to the American Heart Association, 519 East 4th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
