Mark Sherwood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2025.
Mark Robert Sherwood, passed away on August 22, 2025, surrounded by family and his healthcare team.

Mark was loved as a father and husband. Mark had a lifetime of experiences celebrating with many passions spanning gardening, fishing, boating, skiing, international travel, classic rock music, cooking, old movies, art collecting, wine tasting, his beloved corvette "Dexter" (RIP), and the many friends he made along the way.

Of the many fond memories his children have with him, they will always cherish cooking delicious family recipes, wrestling matches in the living room, indulging in a fascinating documentary or cracking up at a classic Three Stooges episode with a homemade milkshake in hand, annual 4th of July trips to Pajaro Dunes, summers on the houseboat, road trips from San Jose to Los Angeles for a Tommy's Burger and a Cupid's Hot Dog, and family trips to beautiful places within the US and internationally.

Professionally, one of his greatest accomplishments was the recognition as an industry pioneer in the semiconductor industry, consulting with many global leaders. He also often spoke of his time with the US Army and growing up in the Bronx.

Mark traveled the globe during his career, but his happy place was the annual trip to Puerto Vallarta, where the food, music, sun and graciousness of the locals kept calling him back. One meaningful trip was the quest for the best bananas foster in Puerto Vallarta, ordered with each dinner (El Panorama wins!).

He will be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence, and fierce love of his family. Mark is survived by his wife, Gayle, and his sons, Joe, Allan, and Grandson Jesse.

Shine on, you crazy diamond. We wish you were here.

Mark appreciated the finer things in life. I´m grateful to have shared many happy times with him and his family. Two sentiments we seemed to have had in common: life is about experiences and, don´t settle for anything but the very best. Memories I´ll treasure forever: my first taste of (real) NY pizza from Pronto, 4th of July fireworks at Shoreline, and sipping Coronas in Puerto Vallarta while the locals celebrated the election of Vincente Fox. My heart is breaking for Mark´s family, and for the years he lost due to illness. I find comfort in knowing his pain has ended, and in watching the passions he shared with his children get passed down to his grandson.
The legacy lives on.

Mark had a way of injecting fun...he loved to laugh, and spend time with is boys, whether on vacation or just hanging in the yard. I hope he's up there, hanging with his mom and mine...yucking it up.
