Marshall Vestbie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2025.
Reno - A Nevada native, Noel was born on November, 29, 1940. He quietly slipped away in the early morning hours on Monday September 8th, 2025.

He was born to parents Otto Roald (Ron) Vestbie and Ruby Wyoma (Sheila) Vestbie, followed by sister Sheryll and brother Nicky. He grew up in the family home on Airport Road, attended local schools and graduated from Reno High School's Adult Education classes. He was a member of the Nevada Air National Guard, joined the IBEW Local 401 in 1966 and started his apprenticeship training later turning out as a journeyman electrician.

He married Penny Elaine Murray in 1965, and they moved into their forever home, the little yellow house, where son Ronald John, and daughter Linda Elaine were born.

As a family they enjoyed many years as members of the Reno Four Wheelers with jeep trips all over Nevada, up to the Rubican and out to Sand Mountain for the hill climb and the sand drags. He enjoyed countless road trips for hunting, salmon fishing, and camping at Lahontan every summer, with dear old, departed friends Tom Nevin, Bob Winchell, Len O'Brien, and Dean Person. We all enjoyed the annual OK Garage Christmas party. Great Times!

When Hot August Nights started, he and brother Nick bought old cars and rebuilt them. Chevy's for Nick, Oldsmobiles for Noel. Nick did all the beautiful painting jobs; Noel was allowed to sand. They had many fun times at swap meets, car shows where they won a few, and BBQs.

Health issues kept him homebound the last few years, but he was content being lovingly cared for by his family and by his nurses from St. Mary's Hospice (April and Jennifer). He was an organ/tissue donor and was able to help many people. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Sheryll and husband Wilber Whitney, his in-laws John Ray Murray and Elaine Murray Marcolini, his brother-in-law Johnny Murray. He is survived by wife of 60 years Penny, brother Nick (Carla), son Ron (Carrie), daughter Linda Elaine (Casey) Quinlan, brother-in-law Lee Murray (Andi). Grandchildren Drake Robert Vestbie, Kaitlyn Noelle Quinlan, Kendall Lynette Quinlan, and Ronni Rose Vestbie.

Funeral services will be held on September 23, 2025, at Waltons on 875 West Second St. at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider being an organ/tissue donor. He lived a life full of good times with the caring concern of a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Goodbye Noel, we all loved you.
