It has been 6 years since Marta physically left us after years of putting up a fight against cancer. We dearly miss her wonderful teaching, therapy, consulting, friendship and wise counsel. We have been lucky to have Jamie Foor pick up her teaching duties as he carries on her tradition of caring, enthusiastic instruction. Still, it is hard to replace Marta and there are many days where I reflect on her supportive manner, encouragement, and wise advice, especially in the case of struggling students. Marta was a college teacher of great skill, someone expert in her field but, more importantly, someone who knew how to teach it well. She lives on in the productive lives of the many hundreds of her students over the years of her dedicated teaching.

I'm in Lock Haven...as always passed by your childhood home in Swissdale with fond and sad memories. Always think of our conversations at the bus stop on how we would stay in touch forever. I wish we had.

February 3, 2018

Marta, you are greatly missed by your family, friends, and colleagues. Your great intellect, empathy and teaching skill made you a role model for college instruction and influenced thousands of students, a lasting legacy. You are not forgotten and we miss you dearly.

I find myself missing you all the time Marta. There have been so many "I wish you were here" moments... you would've known just what to say or do. We sometimes had our differences in opinion but you were loved deeply by all of us. You will have a very special place in my heart forever.

I had several psychology courses with Marta. A wonderful professor whom I will always remember. Her classes were very interesting and enjoyable. Her grading system was very fair, and if you studied, completed your assignments, and participated, you knew you would get an A. R.I.P. Marta. - Glenn Caldwell, Elementary Teacher

Its been over a year now that you have been gone...Many things have happened in that short amount of time, things that I know you were a part of, even if we couldn't see you. Milestone birthdays, amazing gifts, even the birth of a child, you were there in our hearts for all of it. We miss you dearly and think of you often.

Tomorrow would have been your 64th birthday, but instead of us planning what's for lunch and who's picking up the ice cream cake we will be grieving while you celebrate your first birthday in heaven. You still continue to touch our hearts and our lives everyday. I think of you regularly and cannot thank you enough. We miss you and love you.

Dr. Moore was one of the greatest professors that i have ever had the privilege of getting to know. Truly a great woman with a character to match. She will be eternally missed by her past students as well as ones who she recently had. The Clearfield Campus just isnt the same without her around.

March 19, 2013

It was my privilege to know Marta Moore. She was a caring dedicated teacher and a happy positive personality. Students really liked and cared for her. I saw her student ratings, so I can say this with assurance. Lock Haven and Clearfield were fortunate to have her services. Please accept my empathy and condolences..............Craig Willis

Marta will forever be remembered for her kind and gentle soul. I had the honor of knowing her through Karen. The very first time I met her I felt as if I had known her my entire life. She made you feel as if you were the most important person in the room. She listened with her heart. I remember being at Marta and Karen's home and Marta was playing with Olivia. As I watched them play together I remember thinking I wish I was Olivia...she gets to play with Marta. I always admired Marta for her strength during her illness. She was such an inspiration. Her memorial service was beautiful...listening to people talk about how much she meant to them and how she touched their lives. My life is better because I had the honor of knowing Marta and her kind and gentle spirit. Leaving the service my heart kept searching for an answer to the question "What legacy will I leave"? If all of us could be just half the person Marta was, the world would be a better place.

Marta was a childhood friend...we lived next door to one another and rode the school bus together. We shared many long talks about life / and what our futures might hold. We had made a pact that who ever married first owed the other two (my sister)a set of dishtowels. LOL, I owed them both! I awoke with her on my mind last week and was going to try to see if she was by chance on FaceBook. Two days later my mom called to say she had passed away. I am so sorry we never connected again. I am not surprised the field she chose to go into for her profession. I bet she was darn good at what she did. She was one of the sweetest people I ever met.
Sorry I missed you Marta.

Marta had such a kind soul. She fit right in with our family and will never be forgotten. I never knew the professor side of Marta, but as people talk about her that had her for classes they are surprised that she was struggling through sickness. She didn't show it at all. That is just one of the things that shows how strong she was. No matter how much she had to endure, she always was pleasant and never showed negativity. I will always envy her strength and our family is stronger just from knowing her.

Dr Moore was a wonderful, caring and devoted professor. She was very dedicated to her work and wanted to see her students succeed. I unfortunately did not know her personally, because I took her classes online but highly respect her as a person and a perfessional. After reading her obituary, I really wished I had known her personally, she seems to have blessed many lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Dr. Moore made a difference in many lives and though she has passed on, her memory will live forever!

In Memory of Marta Moore

Marta was my student, colleague and friend, in that order. In each capacity, she was outstanding and unique. As a friend she was always willing to extend herself, sometimes at the expense of great effort and time -expecting nothing in return.

Thus, it can be said by those who knew her, also in varying capacities -from children to older people, that Marta was above all a truly giving person. That is the word that describes her most fittingly.

In addition, she did not demand of others, even when she was enduring one of her many serious medical difficulties. She stood up to these hardships quietly on her
on her own unique strength.

May Marta now experience the peace she so deserves.

I like many others had Dr. Moore for classes at Clearfield. I will never forget when she told us she didn't want to eat her cereal as a kid because she didn't want to break up the family.I had many personal talks with her about things and helped me when no one else could and I will be forever humbled by her. She was funny, intelligent, tough when she had to be but above all she loved her family and truly loved what she did. Marta will always remain with each of us in some way.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. I have never met this professor, but have taken an online class with her and she was amazing. She was so understanding and sweet. I was going through some financial hardship and told her I couldn't afford the book, and she shipped a brand new textbook to me ASAP. That was pretty amazing and trustfull. Thanks to her, I got an A in the class. She will be loved and rmembered.

Dr. Marta Moore made a huge difference in the lives of her students at the Lock Haven University Clearfield campus. She was their inspiration to become more; she was their role model; she was their champion. When these students would transfer up to main campus after two years, they would always credit Dr. Moore as the person who made them believe in their ability to complete an undergraduate degree. She lives on through them and through the differences that they are and will make in the lives of others. In addition to being an inspiration to her students, Marta was also an inspiration to her colleagues. She embodied the spirit of a true educator who always put the needs of the students above all else. Her ability to come up with creative ways to serve our students, often under some major restrictions, never ceased to amaze me. This creativity was always coupled with great humility; she never wanted any credit for her suggestions or solutions. She often made me, as her department chairperson, look exceptionally good. Marta will be greatly missed by the LHU students, faculty, and administration, all of whom are better people from having known her.

We have lost a wonderful teacher who lives on in the lives of thousands of students and friends...someone who won many battles and seemed so indestructible ...hard to accept that she is gone...but what a terrific life well led...what a loving, giving, talented person..a perfect role model for her students.

February 3, 2013

There is an old saying that says you can pick your friends but you cannot pick your family. In Marta's case this did prove to be true. She chose this family to bless with her love, kindness, wisdom and understanding; I think they will always be touched by it and will be a better family because of it. As a part of this extended family I feel very lucky to have known her. She was always available with a loving ear, words of kindness and the ability to help you see things much clearer. As a grandmother I could not have been luckier than to have Karen and Marta to share my grandchildren with. With Marta's passing I can find comfort in knowing that I was privileged to see a glimpse of the great person she was. Anyone who knew her even briefly or from a far as I did knows that her life here had much purpose and she has more than earned the peace and comfort she now has achieved.

Marta was known by many names in her life. Sister, Dr. or Professor, friend, Mimi, even Princess Marta (from my daughter when she was very young.) But of all those names she answered to, I think the most important one to me was family. We lost a very significant role model and one of the strongest women I've ever met. Marta will be remembered by hundreds and cherished by many. Never have I known someone so talented, smart, genuine, and all around amazing. I want to thank her for the countless memories that my children, family and friends have that wouldn't have been possible with out her. We love you Marta, you will always be remembered in our hearts.
