METHUEN — Martha F. (Weiland) Shaw, 89, of Methuen, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Grace House, Windham, N.H.
Mrs Shaw was born, raised and educated in Methuen and has lived in Methuen all of her life. She was a longtime member of the former First Methodist Church, Methuen and for many years, Martha sold Avon products. She loved gardening and trips to the beach and traveled extensively with her husband. She loved being with her family, children and grandchildren.
The widow of former Methuen Fire Department Deputy Chief, John F. Shaw, her family members include her son, Richard A. and his wife Donna Shaw of Hampstead, N.H. and her daughter, Sandra L. Avila of Methuen. She leaves four grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Shaw and Jessica and Jeffrey Avila; her brother-in-law, Norman and his wife Betty Shaw of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. Sandy, Rick and Families, Even though I haven't seen your Mom in many years, she was in my thoughts and prayers. When I think of your mom, I remember her sense of humor and her great laugh... I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
