PAETZ, Martin Joseph (Ph.D. Zoology) On Friday, July 26, 2002, Martin Joseph Paetz of Edmonton passed away, surrounded by his family, in his 81st year. Martin will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Carol, his devoted wife of 49 years, his children: Laurel Paetz Smith (Peter), Teresa Koslo (Chris), Kathy MacIsaac (Ian), Martin Paetz (Laurna), Melanie Hewko (Mark Passamare) and Leslie Paetz (Brad Hamdon). Martin also leaves 19 grandchildren: Matthew, Kevin, Jeffrey, Cayley, Christine, Michael, Erin, Shannon, David, Daniel, Robyn, Christopher, Heather, Kelsey, Samantha, Martin, Adam, Emily and Sophia. He is also survived by his brother Ted (Ruth) and sisters Anne (Ralph) Roth, Lucy James, Esther (Don) McDonald, Barbara (Dennis) Bolen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Elizabeth Paetz, his brothers, Hank, Laurence, John and Jim and by his sisters, Tress and Margaret. Martin's family was the most important thing in his life and, above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and conservationist. Martin was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Edmonton Trout Fishing Club, the Edmonton Oldtimers' Fishing Club and Trout Unlimited. He will be remembered for his significant contribution to the preservation of fisheries in Alberta. Martin was a gentleman, well-respected by family, friends and colleagues. Prayers will be offered at Connelly McKinley Funeral Home (10011 - 114 Street) on Monday, July 29, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Right Reverend Donald MacDonald will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (9830 - 148 Street) on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Martin's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tom Ranieri, his nurses, and the staff of the Misericordia Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Misericordia Hospital (Caritas Hospitals Foundation, 11111 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, T5K 0L4), or to Trout Unlimited Alberta (P.O.
