Marty (Martha) Collins Leafe

MARTY LEAFE (July 22, 1948 - May 8, 2023)

Martha (Marty) Collins Leafe passed away in Clearwater, Florida, on the morning of May 8, 2023, with her husband Derry Leafe by her side. Marty's full maiden name was Martha Shelley Collins.

Marty was a baton twirler at Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois, for 4 years, serving as Captain her senior year. After graduation she went to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Marty was always known as a friendly and outgoing person. Some of the fun things Marty did included working on a cruise ship and volunteering as an Olympic Games hostess in 1984 when the Games were in Los Angeles. She began her airline career with United Airlines in the reservation department, but then applied to and was accepted to be a flight attendant for United. During airline furloughs after deregulation in the early 1980's, she was one of the original 50 flight attendants for a new airline in Los Angeles- The Hawaii Express flying between between LAX and Honolulu. Later, Marty became a flight attendant for TWA and enjoyed more of the international travel she enjoyed.

Marty and husband Derry enjoyed traveling and particularly enjoyed the Caribbean as well as trips to the U.K. In addition to her husband- Derry Leafe- Marty is survived by her two brothers, Tom and Jack. Marty was preceeded in death by her mother as well as her father- professor Warren Collins, PhD.
