Marvin Bayer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29, 2010.
BAYER, Marvin ""Max"" 1935 - 2010 Max Bayer passed away peacefully on December 24, 2010. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Shirl and Bernice, his sons Bernard (Doreen) and Konrad (Kelly) and his grandchildren Connor and Ryan. Max had many passions and pursued all of his interests with enthusiasm and dedication. He was an accomplished outdoorsman. His cabin on the Red Deer River northwest of Calgary was one of Max's favorite places and has become an enduring legacy to his life. Max loved to travel and visited many places around the world. In 1974 he applied for a sabbatical to the University of Southampton in England and moved there with his family for a year. Max was also passionate about people. He was a devoted father who did anything he could to help his sons achieve their dreams. Max was a proud and loving man who was loved and admired by many. In his own words, if asked if he enjoyed his time and loved his family... his answer would be ""indubitably""! If friends desire memorial tributes may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada ( www.alzheimer.ca ) or the University of Calgary Library (2500 University Drive N.W., Calgary, AB). Arrangements entrusted to LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME, RECEPTION & CREMATION CENTRE. Phone: 403-228-4422.

I remember in visits in the 60ies Max's stories of his Canadian outback childhood told so animatedly and his vigorous participation in laughing conversation.

Max was admired and respected by many friends and colleagues he worked with at the University of Calgary, where he taught Management Science in the Business School. His knowledge, camaraderie, sense of humour, and last but not least his yearly cooking of the Christmas turkey was appreciated and enjoyed by many.

May comfort and a smile always be found in your memories of Max.
