Marv "schooled me" on how to play the center position in basketball. He was invited by my Holy Spirit High School freshman Coach Allen "Boo" Pergament to the Jewish Community Center in Margate in 1960. Marv knocked be around "In the Paint" and then shook my hand, smiled and gave me a kind word of encouragement. I took to heart everything he taught me in that one brief encounter with a Very Good Big Man.

I read Mr Becker´s obituary. He must have been a delightful man. In his honor I ordered a jar of the blue cheese stuffed olives to enjoy in vodka. I spent much of my youth in AC and moved to Texas fifty years ago.

Our heart full condolences to Millie and family. The years have moved too quickly but the memories will be forever. We know our mom and dad would have been saddened with the news of his passing. However, he is now shooting hoops with dad and having fun conversation with mom. Our family and yours have traveled a long history and we are so happy to have shared in those memories.

I knew Marvin from when he worked at his family's store, in the 900 block Atlantic Av., in the 1940's and I lived in the 800 Block. His imposing physique, definitely caused him to stand out. Then, in the early 1950's, we worked together on the Steel Pier. All fond memories, of an all around good guy. Rest easy Bevo. Steve Souder, Kent Island, MD

In 1965, my parents, Ethel and Milton Ackerman (z'l) moved our family...my older brother (Rick), my sister (Linda) and me ... to 8807 Atlantic Avenue, directly across the street from where you guys lived.
On my very first morning in our new home and neighborhood I was walking up to the beach bulkhead on Sumner when Marv saw me, said "hello" and introduced himself and then went on to introduce the rest of the family.
I will always remember the infectious warmth and good humor that were so much a part of him. I see his face in my mind's eye and although it is a face about 50 years younger that I see there, what I really see, looking back way, was his humanity...his essential goodness and his way of making one feel good just to see him smile!
My heart goes out to you all.
