I will always cherish my memories of Marvin as one of the most devoted, gentle, caring husbands I have ever had the privilege of knowing. As a volunteer at The Jewish Senior Life Center, I knew he would be at Jean's side, every day but Thursdays, holding her hand, reminding her of their younger lives together, or just watching her sleep. Checking in on him one afternoon, I inquired about Jean, and he sweetly replied, "She just told me that she loves me." All was well with the world in his eyes. Although Marvin was a very influential public servant, he never boasted about his status or accomplishments. He was a loving husband, proud father and gentleman extraordinaire. My condolences to his family.

He had a laugh that could be heard in half of the Capitol Building. The reason we changed the fiscal year of the local governments was so that he could produce a financial report for the State of Iowa . that included the State and the local governments. We were in sync with the feds too, but shortly after that the feds changed their fiscal year. It was no easy task to switch the fiscal year. The locals had to go to a 18 month fiscal period one time. He knew the school aid ill backwards and forwards also.
He hired me in 1970 and I stayed until 2006. He hired several of us and none of his hires work there any more. Hell of a man. Proud to have worked for him.

Marv was a wonderful man who brought sunshine with him in each passing. I feel blessed to have known him and to have witnessed his love and dedication towards his wife. He was awe inspiring.

Marv was a true gentleman and devoted husband to Jean. I knew Marv years ago as a fellow CPA but our friendship became close when he visited his dear wife daily at the Senior Life Center in Des Moines. I also came daily to visit my Mother, Helen Galinsky. I became friends with Jean and her family. I will miss our daily chats and I know he will be missed by his family. Marv was a good man.
