Mary Ann Robinson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2024.
Mary Ann Stephens Robinson passed away at the age of 79 on May 24, 2024 in the embrace of her loved ones. A long-time Houstonian, born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mary Ann was a beacon of love, strength, and grace throughout the many challenges in her life. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Ann was a widow and 40 year breast-cancer survivor who faced her final journey confronting a diagnosis of small cell lung cancer with courage and resilience and unwavering dignity. She faced the aggressive disease and the cruelty of the diagnosis as a never-smoker with some healthy dark humor and the same determination and grace that defined her character.

Mary Ann is survived by children Valerie Crowder (Jeff) Mongonia, Melany Roberts (Chris) Barlow, and Jarrett Malcolm (Melanie) Roberts. Mary Ann's legacy of love lives on through her grandchildren Chance Douglas (Vanessa) Barlow, Lauren Mongonia (Evan) Hawkins, Madeleine Nadine Barlow, James Malcolm Roberts, Benjamin Gregory Roberts, Mitchell Shaun Criswell, Graham Thomas Criswell and great-grandchild Catalina Barlow. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husbands James Malcolm Roberts (1981), Dr. Samuel A. DeBord (1999) and Glen L. Robinson (2016), and her parents Melvon H. and Nadine W. Stephens (2000) and sister Barbara Stephens Smith (2017).

Throughout her life, Mary Ann touched the lives of those who knew her with a refreshing openness, humor, and a natural sharing of her unwavering faith. Mary Ann's desire for others to know they are loved knew no bounds, and we are so grateful her legacy of devotion will carry on in waves as people share that love with others. Her heart, arms and door were always open.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the children's or missions ministry of Bear Creek Church, in honor of Mary Ann's commitment to making God's love known.

A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held 11AM Saturday June 1 at Bear Creek Church, 5901 N Fry Rd, Katy, TX 77449. All who were touched by her presence are invited to join in honoring her life.
