Mary Brower, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully with family by her side, at age 79 in her home in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday, October 7, 2005. Mary was proud of her strong Irish heritage as her mother, grandfather, and all her siblings were born in Ireland. After her family immigrated to the United States, Mary was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Mary graduated from Notre Dame Academy, class of 1944, where her beautiful voice could be heard as the lead soprano in the highly acclaimed school choir. Married in 1946 to Robert F. Brower (deceased) at Christ the King Church in Cleveland. Together with their children, they moved to Scottsdale in 1958. Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a member of their catholic women's Sodality organization. In 1959, Mary and her husband, Bob, opened The Coach House Tavern still family owned and operated to this day. The Coach House is now considered to be the oldest tavern in Scottsdale. Mary is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Brower, Susanville, CA, Kenneth Brower, Fallbrook, CA, Michael Brower, Mesa, AZ, James Brower, Scottsdale, AZ, Irene Knutsen, Encinitas, CA and Anita Glaser, Tucson, AZ. Mary was also blessed with 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews and many devoted friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13th, from 5 to 8pm at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. The funeral mass will be on Friday, October 14th at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3801 N. Miller Road. A procession will follow to Paradise Memorial Gardens. Friends and Family will be gathering following the Committal Services at Chances Are restaurant, 7570 E. 6th Avenue, Scottsdale, until 3pm. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an organization dedicated to helping those in need.

I was blessed to know Mary through the many years of having her wonderful son (Michael) as my brother in law. To the family: my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Your mother was always a shinning star and her wonderful personality and smile always a bright light!

Those who knew Mary well and long undoubtedly must feel an incredible loss and will miss her warmth, humor, and compassion in their lives. For those of us who had a limited time with her, there is a very different feeling of loss--a future of getting to know this beautiful soul. Her spirit lives on in the hearts and souls of her children. I feel extremely fortunate to know such special people. They are an inspiration to us all and a living tribute to a very special lady. Lovingly, Judiann (Brower) Bacso

A very sweet lady who loved her family and her "baseball". We both had many good times with her, Bob and their son Jim. She will be missed and remembered always.

We had the honor of meeting and knowing Mary. She was a gracious and kind person and very proud of her family. She will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

I will truly miss that sweet lilt in your Irish laughter. You treated me as if I were your own and I will be eternally blessed simply because I knew you.

I feel fortunate to have known such a dear and genuine soul. She always seemed to be able to bring a smile to a person's face. She will be missed, but she is with Bob and God, once again. May God bless her family and keep them well.
