Mary Carter

Mary (Jennings) Carter, a lifelong Newton resident died on May 5, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 85. Born and raised in Newton she graduated from Newton High School and was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Newton Corner. She had worked for Raytheon in Waltham prior to her marriage and later worked as a Medical Receptionist in the EKG and Cardiology Dept’s at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Wife of the late John L. Carter, she was the mother of Steven and his wife Carole of Newton, William A. of Hayfield MN, Ken of Sanbornton NH, Laurie Wolfe of Newton and devoted grandmother of John Robert, Kathleen, Christine, Susanne, Mackenzie, Nicholas and Sarina. Sister of Ethel Yukes of Newton, Sam Jennings of ME and the late Harold and David Jennings. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Cherished friend of many Lahey Clinic co-workers. A funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church 76 Eldredge St. Newton Corner on Friday, May 8th at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
