She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford Darkis, sisters, Vera Stone, and Wilma Deich, brother, John Willard Hicks, and 4 grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, John William Wheeler, of Valonia, IN., 5 daughters, Vera Beveliheimer, of Franklin, North Carolina, Anita Pearl Smith, Wilma Jean Charnes, both of Seymour, IN., Billie June Marshall, of New Pekin, IN., and Virginia Lee Perez, of Indianapolis, IN.; a sister, Marilyn Belden, of San Antonio, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
