Mary Brooke DeLoache

DeLOACHE, Mary B. Mary Brooke DeLoache of Atlanta died peacefully January 6, 2016. She was born May 26, 1933, the daughter of Byron Brooke and Georgia Burt Brooke. Mary was a life-long resident of Atlanta, having graduated from North Avenue Presbyterian School (Westminster) where she was editor of the yearbook and "Miss Napsonia" in 1951. She graduated from Emory University with a degree in history. While at Emory she was a member of the Kite Club and was instrumental in forming the first Emory chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was also the first female senior class president at Emory. She was a member of the Atlanta Debutante Club of 1954 as well as being a member of the Colonial Dames and Daughters of the American Revolution. Mary was a world traveler and for many years was a buyer for the Piedmont Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop. She had a flair for designing and making unique jewelry which were exhibited at several art shows. She was an avid needle pointer. Mary is preceded in death by her sister Anne Brooke Milner and survived by her brother-in-law, James Bradford Milner, Rome, GA, Niece, Brooke Milner Cornwell (Steve), Charlotte, NC, Nephews, Bradford Milner, Kennesaw, GA, and Clifford Burt Milner (Trish) of Charlotte, NC. Graveside services to be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Decatur City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Northside Methodist Church, Atlanta. A.S.
