DURBIN – Mary Lane (Harker), 84, Cresson, died Feb. 3, 2009, at Altoona Regional, Altoona Campus, in the presence of her family. Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Cresson, daughter of the late Sanford and Cordelia (Ahles) Harker. Preceded in death by her husband, Blair William Durbin Jr. in 2005. She and Blair were married on Jan. 2, 1945, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church by Father Innocent Strittmatter. They were married over 60 years. Preceded in death by twin grandsons, Nathan Robert and Ryan Francis Durbin; stepfather, Francis McCloskey; brother, Bernard McCloskey; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as special aunt, Luerene Harlin. Survived by son, Kenneth, and daughter-in-law, Ann (Scheurer) Durbin, and grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley. Also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Deanna (Durbin) Lundberg Sr.; special nephews, Bernard Maloney, Raymond Lundberg Jr., Gregory Lundberg and their families; and special niece, Kathy Lundberg. Also survived by special cousins, James Baum and Jack Baum and their families, and Betty McMullen. She had been employed by Publix Shirt Factory in Gallitzin for many years. Mary Lane enjoyed being with her grandchildren and attending their activities, including ball games and school plays. She enjoyed doing things for her family, including cooking, baking and making clothing. She was very active with her home parish of St. Aloysius Church, including extensive participation in the fundraising for the construction of the church building during the 1950’s, under the direction of Father Gilbert Fremont. Also a member of the Legion of Mary. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Church, the Rev. Bob Yetsko. Committal, church cemetery.
