Mary Everhart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 7, 2024.
Mary Everhart, a cherished musician, beloved family member, and resilient spirit, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL at the age of 61. Born on January 22, 1963, in Tallahassee, Florida, Mary faced challenges from an early age, yet she never allowed adversity to defeat her spirit. Her journey was marked not only by her battles but by the music that played a pivotal role throughout her life.

From the tender age of 12, Mary found solace and expression in music, which eventually shaped her career and her contributions to the world. For nearly five decades, she dedicated her life to music, becoming a significant figure in the blues community. Her accomplishments include being an ambassador and nominee inductee for the Blues Hall of Fame and the owner of Redbird Records, where she nurtured other artists' careers.

Mary's legacy is carried on by her loving husband, Melvin Clemans, her daughter Elizabeth Drake, her son Daniel Everhart, and her three grandchildren, Caleb Drake, Hope Taylor, and Raina Hill. She is also survived by her father, Vann Eugene Streety, and numerous brothers, sisters, and cousins from both biological and adoptive families. Mary was preceded in death by her biological parents, Harold Wingate and Patricia Roberts, and her adopted mother, Winn Cay Moor.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on July 12, 2024, from 7 PM to 11 PM at the House of Music, located at 2011 S Monroe St, Tallahassee, Florida. This event promises to honor her memory through the music she loved and the community she fostered.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a GoFundMe account set up to support her autistic son and husband as they adjust to life without Mary. Donations can be made at [https://gofund.me/916b33eb](https://gofund.me/916b33eb).

Mary Everhart's life was a profound testament to the power of resilience and the enduring impact of music. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and by the many lives she touched through her art and spirit.

Mary and I first bonded on Facebook over our mutual love of Southern Rock. Even though we never met face-to-face, I felt that she was just as much a friend as anyone else in my life. I always thought about packing my car with gear and heading out of Vancouver, WA to show up on her doorstep guitar in hand ready to play. Sorry that never came to pass, and I will miss her dearly.
