Mary Feddersen Obituary

CLINTON — Mary E. Feddersen, age 93, of Clinton, died Tuesday Feb. 3, 2009, at Mercy Living Center North. Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Mary was born on August 18, 1915, in Clinton, the daughter of Ernest and Laurine (Madsen) Bengtson. She graduated as valedictorian of Lyons High School in 1933 and received the Palmer Penmanship Award. She married Harold E. Feddersen on Feb. 24, 1935; he died in 1992. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church (New Hope Lutheran Church), Clinton and for many years an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preston. She was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary. Mary loved to bake, cook and entertain. She was known for her buns, cream puffs, cookies and homemade pies. She enjoyed sewing, making beautiful quilts and other gifts. She will forever be remembered for her generous love and care for her family. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Julia Ann (Delaus) Zenk of Clinton and Donna Ethell of Pompano Beach, FL; two sons, John (Joyce) Feddersen of Des Moines, IA and Dr. William (Roberta) Feddersen of Palm Desert, CA; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and three sisters. Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff at Mercy Living Center North and Mercy Hospice. Memorials may be given to New Hope Lutheran Church. Death date: Feb. 3, 2009
