Mary Ellen GOSWITZ

Age 99 of St. Paul Passed away surrounded by her family on November 6, 2018. Preceded in death by beloved husband Dr. Joseph Goswitz Sr., parents Raymond and Lillian Miler, brothers Wayne (Frances), Mert (Helen), Paul, and Frank Miler. She is survived by her loving son Dr. Joseph Jr. and his wife Visala Goswitz; grandchildren Meera, Kiran, and Arjun; sister Jane (Darrell) Douglas; sister-in-law Evelyn Miler. Also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary Ellen ("Dude" to those close to her) was born in Hayfield, MN and grew up in the Great Depression. She lived a life of service to her family, friends and the community. Her positive outlook, sense of fair play, work ethic, and charity to others were inspiring to us all. In her early years, Dude's parents, siblings, nieces and nephews were the center of her life. In midlife, she and her husband created a wonderful household for their son filled with a backyard skating rink, late night Monopoly games, a dog, and constant love. In her later years, three grandchildren completed her world. We could always count on Dude. Her spirit will continue to guide us along the path of goodness. Visitation 5-7PM Friday at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home (575 S. Snelling Ave. St. Paul) and one hour prior to Mass at church Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00AM Saturday, November 10th at Lumen Christi Catholic Church (2055 Bohland Ave., St. Paul). Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Project for Pride in Living or the Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center. 651-698-0796
