Mary Louise McGettigan O'Brien, age 101, died peacefully on February 28, 2023.
Mary Louise was the beloved wife of the late John J. O'Brien, Jr. for 59 years and devoted mother of John J., III., Ferdinand (Lynda) and Kevin. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Cecille O'Brien and cousin Mary Lou Gray as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mary Louise was inspired by the Holy Child sisters at St. Leonard's Academy and her beloved alma mater, Rosemont College. She served as a former trustee of Rosemont College and was honored for her years of service at St. Joseph's Prep, Rosemont and St. Francis Country House. Mary Louise celebrated her 100th birthday in April, 2021 surrounded by many family members and friends who traveled from places as far away as California, North Carolina and Maine to celebrate her loving nature. The impromptu speech she delivered will be remembered by all.
Relatives and friends invited on Saturday March 4th, Viewing 11 AM with Funeral Mass at 12 PM at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Rd., Gladwyne PA. Internment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary Louise's name to the Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, 1341 Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont, PA 19010.
