Mary Vogler Obituary

Published by Windsor Star on Sep. 8, 2004.
VOGLER, Mary Josephine Passed away at her home in Light House Cove on Sunday, September 5, 2004 surrounded by those she loved and by those who loved her. Born 63 years ago in Winnipeg to her parents Anne (Panchuk) and Francis Zilkowski who have predeceased her. Mary is survived by her husband and best friend for 47 years, Edward "Ted" Vogler. Mary also leaves behind a daughter Michelle Vogler and a son Randy Vogler and his wife Karen of Light House Cove. Grandma will be sadly missed by Amand Vogler, Ed Vogler and Andre Vogler as well as Great Grandson Joseph Vogler. Mary will also be sadly missed by her sister Shirley Sherman and her husband Steve of California and by her brother Aley Panchuk and his wife Helen of LaSalle. Mary is predeceased by her sister Helen Wilson in 1997. Mary will be missed by many nieces and nephews particularly by her special niece Gwen Pawloski. So often there are friends as close as family who are left behind, such is the case with Theresa McLeod, Mary's long time friend and Bingo Buddy. Mary's family would also like to thank two very special family friends. Lora Hollbrook who cared for Mary and showed everyone else how to care for Mary with all of the love and attention that she deserved. And to Rob Strong who helped in many small ways that added up to a lot of help. Mary will also be remembered by her many co-workers at General Motors whom she worked with prior to her retirement. Mary lived her life to the fullest, sharing the many pleasures and joys of boating, camping, and travelling with her friends, family and husband Ted. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of Mary's life to be held at the Darrel Moffatt Memorial United Church, 27 Canal Street East in Tilbury, on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Catherine Collins-Barker officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider a donation to the Hospice of Essex County. Donations can be arranged by calling the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 1-519-676-9200.

Ted: In case you don't recognize the last name, I'm Amy & Ted's mom. I am very sorry to hear about Mary. Years ago I considered us friends. I don't know if you knew, but she was inspirational to me when I had cancer. I'll always have a place in my heart reserved for her. Till we all meet again. Sue
